Dim Sum Funeral

This is not about food -- it's about life. Well, maybe it's about both. A new movie, Dim Sum Funeral, is getting interesting reviews. Perhaps this is another sleeper along the lines of Eat, Pray Love, or Chocolat meets Six Feet Under. Here's a sample of four reviews...

Screen Daily: "The cast looks very uncomfortable at all the wrong moments." - Fionnuala Halligan

Asia Pacific Arts: "There's a twist towards the end, but by then you'll wish the movie was over." - William Hong

Frustrated blogger: "fkllllllllllllllllllllljjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjkkkkk" - M.D. Caigoy

Quote used on Dim Sum Funeral promotional fliers: "This could be the next SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE." - Amy Stoody, KNX 1070 News Radio, Los Angeles

  1. I think it is cowardice to call me a "shameless liar" for simply sharing an opinion. A movie may touch different people in different ways; I connected with the themes of life, death and redemption and felt that the characters also raised a variety of current social issues in a creative and touching way. How that is tantamount to being a "liar" makes no sense. Amy Stoody

  2. Thanks, Amy Stoody, for your comments. You raise a valid point -- this reference was taken from a review in the Asia Pacific Blog, http://www.asiaarts.ucla.edu/090605/article.asp?parentID=108936, which quoted the "Shameless Liar" blog, which quoted Amy's review.

Personally, I've found that reviews of a movie are just that -- an opinion. Agree or disagree, but don't make your judgement about a movie based on one review -- negative or positive.

Let's grab some singapore street noodles and watch the movie and decide for ourselves.
